This photo was taken on June 17th. I rent a lot space in a trailer park (resort) in Western Washington, so it isn't actually "my" yard. I get to share in its use when I'm home, though, and that's enough.
There's several places for campfires, and I have memory of several bonfires over the years. Spending time in the
vicinity of a fire with food, sometimes intoxicants, and friends and neighbors is the form of social interaction I've
enjoyed the most so far in my life. Along with a few leisurely reastaurant meals I've had, campfire visits are only
non-solitary thing that I've enjoyed at the time and reliably enjoyed the memory of later on.
The two trees in the foreground are a couple of varieties of Sequoiah that my landlord planted a few years ago. They're
a perennial favorite photo subject of mine. Some of the Coast Redwoods he's planted have grown a lot faster, but the
wide gaps between their branches make them a much more difficult subject for photos. The tree to the left is one of the
native Cedars that are growing up here. I think they've been around since at least the late 1800's, and visiting with
them when I'm home from other parts of the world restores my soul. They've been great neighbors to me.
