There's still some work to do at the doorway, but we need to buy more rebar first. Now that we have the have a date for the joists, Rai & Steve have started the process of borrowing against their retirement savings to help fund the remainder of the project. After those savings and the equity in the real estate, I start on my credit cards. Hopefully we'll get the project far enough along that when they get the mortgage, the remainder of the work will be sufficiently simple and cosmetic that the bank won't require too many subcontractors. You'll notice that the holes for the rebar aren't centered on the boards. The boards are centered on the holes, and the rebar should be at the top of the bottom third of the 4" pad, so the rebar is 1/6 of 4" lower than the center of the boards.
